Seventy years of outstanding craft and design from the collection of the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, GermanyA monumental survey, with nearly 600 pages and more than 2000 illustrations The term 'craftsmanship' is associated with individuality, uniqueness, decorative potential, artistic quality, attention to material and to process. But what does craftsmanship mean today? This exhibition catalog of nearly 600 pages explores the meaning of craftsmanship in the context of the outstanding collection of the Museum Angewandte Kunst (Frankfurt, Germany) in a monumental survey of 700 items dating from 1945 to the present. Scale reproductions of plates, furniture, cutlery, jewelry and vases highlight their surprising variety of form. In their essays, the ten authors take diverse approaches to the broad terrain of craftsmanship: from the relationship between East Asia and Western ceramics, via the handicrafts of the Romantic period, to the adventure that is arts and crafts today. For nearly 50 years Japanese-born artist On Kawara (1932-2014) devoted himself to a quiet practice of marking time, incrementally, via various methods and media. He is best known for a continuous series of monochromatic canvases, collectively titled Today, upon which each work's date of execution is painted in precise white script. This book marks the long-term exhibition of the Today triptych Moon Landing (1969) at Glenstone Museum. It includes text by E. B. White, an original essay by Lynne Tillman, installation photography and reproductions of all additional works by the artist in Glenstone's collection.

Videogames: Design / Play / Disrupt explores the design and culture of videogames since the mid-2000s, investigating groundbreaking contemporary design work, creative and rebellious player communities, and the political conversations that define this movement. A star-studded cast of contributors consider a variety of games, from blockbusters like The Last of Usand Splatoon and cultural phenomena such as Minecraftto less-mainstream productions like Consume Me, which tackles the difficult issues of body image and extreme dieting. Canadian academic and minimalist games designer Pippin Barr addresses violence in videogames through his work on A Series of Gunshots; Kat Brewster discusses the creation of fan art and fan fiction in relation to the multiplayer first-person shooter Overwatch; and the phenomenon of community and cosplay is explored by Philippa Warr through League of Legendsand the 2017 world finals in Beijing.
