Shelved behind the circulation desk, ask library staff for help.

See CIA reserves lists on the Case and Affiliate Libraries Catalog. Print reserves are not listed on the eReserves guide. The lists will tell you what's currently on the reserves shelves. You can also ask us what's on reserve. We'll pull them and check them out to you if you need to use them.

When you check out an item, it will have one of three options for how long you can check it out (we'll let you know and there's a sticker on the item as a reminder):

  • 3-HR IN-LIBRARY: You can check these items out for 3 hours at a time. You must return them to the desk after 3 hours or 15 minutes before close, whichever comes first. You can't renew these items.

  • OVERNIGHT: You can check these items overnight AFTER 4pm. Before 4pm, the 3-HR IN-LIBRARY rules apply. If you check out these books overnight (after 4pm), you will need to return the item by 10am M-F or 2pm Sat, depending on the day the book is due. You must also return these items to the desk.

  • ONE WEEK: Check out these items for 7 days. You need to return these items at the end of the 7th day.

Linked on eReserves, available on or off campus.

Digital reserves are provided via the library's eReserves Canvas module. eReserves are not listed on the reserves lists on the Case Catalog. Students need to log into Canvas to view eReserves. Links can be accessed on and off campus. However, off-campus access requires logging into the proxy server.

Digital reserves have their usual loan periods and no changes to their usual borrowing. eReserves acts as a repository for direct links to digital resources that faculty are using in class.

On eReserves, you'll see courses on the left. Click each one to go to that course's digital reserves offerings. If your course isn't listed, check "eReserves by Course Subject". Scroll through to find the course subject heading for your class and see if we've listed the class material you're looking for.

What Are Course Reserves?

Course reserves are library resources that are specially requested and processed in a way that makes them more available to students during the semester. Usually, these resources are required or supplementary materials for specific CIA degree-program courses.

Course reserves can be physical items like print books or DVD/Blu Rays or digital items, such as eBooks and online articles.

Be Aware. Your class materials may not be on reserve.

You can always ask us if something is on reserve or available in the library. We're here to help.

You can request course reserves too! See below to learn more.

Can't find an item on reserve behind the desk or on eReserves?

Check the library catalog and see if it's available at CIA.

Contact us if it is. Ask if we can put it on reserve. We'll honor your request if the item is available. By putting it on reserve, you make it available for yourself and your classmates.

If it's a physical item, we'll put it on loan for in-library or overnight use.

If it's a digital item, we'll post the link to eReserves (give it a few hours or more if the request was during our off-hours).

If it's not in the catalog, submit a Resource Request form for the item, indicating it's for course reserves. We'll make every effort to obtain it, but we cannot guarantee it will be available for acquisition.

If you know of anything else that's being used in class that you'd like to access in the library, please let us know.
