The systematic process of gathering information that can serve as evidence to back up your statements. Good research may not confirm what you think you know about your topic when you start out.
Research is challenging. You may have to repeat every step in the research process a few times. Don't get frustrated if your first topic turns out to be too broad, or if your early searches don't turn up any information. By starting out with a plan, and consulting with a librarian if you start feeling stuck, you can avoid frustration.
