The main part of the library contains the "stacks." You may be familiar with a closed stack system, in which you need to request items and they are brought to you. The CIA Library is open stacks, which means you are allowed to go directly to the shelves and browse and find items you might want to borrow.
We use the Library of Congress Classification System in our library. When looking at a call number on the spine of the book, all letters are read alphabetically, the first number is a whole number, and all other numbers are read as decimals.
We have several computers for patron use at the front of the library, and two more with scanners in the back of the library.
All current and back issue periodicals are in the back corner of the library, near a nice reading area.
The Group Study Room is also in the back corner of the library. To reserve it for your use, just stop by the desk.
