Diversity and Anti-Racism Statement
The Cleveland Institute of Art recognizes and embraces diversity and believes that an outstanding arts education should be accessible to all individuals regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, socio-economic status or ability. It is essential for the College to advance diversity by encouraging our community to share a responsibility in creating, maintaining and developing an environment in which difference is valued, equity is sought and inclusiveness is practiced.

The staff of the Jessica R. Gund Memorial Library at the Cleveland Institute of Art publicly oppose racism, discrimination, and oppression in every form and commit ourselves to the work of creating a more just community.
We pledge to develop and curate collections and resources that represent and amplify the voices and artistic expressions of historically excluded populations.
We are committed to the recruitment, retention, and success of students and employees who identify as members of historically excluded populations.
We invest in the professional development of all library staff so that the phenomena of systemic racism, discrimination, and oppression are understood so that our library can be authentically inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist.
